October 13, 2009: Slice's Six-Year Anniversary

Slice Dude, birthdayHola, everybody. It's me, Slice Dude. Well, guess what? This blog is six years old today! Yup, that's right. On this day in 2003, at 12:36 p.m., Slice made its crusty, saucy, cheesy debut.

As far as mascottin' round these here parts, I wasn't even a ball of dough then! But Adam's been at this the whole time. And I think all this pizza-blogging has made him a little crazy. I mean, look, he made me wear this stupid hat, then he spanked me six times (what's that all about!?), and then he ordered a pizza and did it all up like a birthday cake. Didn't matter if the hot cheese melted the candles and they kept falling down. And then the folks here in the Serious Eats–Slice office got a little weird, too, and sang "Happy Birthday." Humans. Weird.

Anyway, Adam's off babbling in a corner, so I'll speak for him when I say that we couldn't have done this all without you. With you in mind every day, we try to find great pizza news, highlight delicious pizzerias for you to visit, and just shoot the breeze about the awesomeness of pizza. Thank you! You are our inspiration.

And of course, a big shout out to Slice contributors present and past, whose voices keep this place from completely devolving into a loony bin. Thank you, thank you!
