'Where Can I Get Good Pizza in Baltimore?'

Dear Slice

Slice mail answered.

Reaching in to the Slice mailbag, we've got a plaintive query from Brian M., who sends us some pics of a jumbo slice from Angelo's in Baltimore before asking for pizza recs in Charm City.

Dear Slice, Letters from Slice'rsI was just reading your "pizza styles" section and saw the DC jumbo slice. Figured I'd send you some pics of the hugest slice I've ever seen/eaten from Angelo's Pizza in Baltimore.

I also noticed you've got no entries from the state of Maryland, and I'm not surprised. I moved down here about a year ago from Connecticut and my biggest problem down here is finding good pizza. It's terrible down here! Actually, Angelo's is pretty good (although I suggest ordering a whole pie instead of the crazy-big slice, due to the consistency of the crust and overall freshness).

I was wondering if you had any suggestions for good pizza down here. I've found a handful of places that I enjoy, it's just so crazy that they're so few and far between. I've been making pizza at home a lot more lately. I've included a picture of a homemade pizza heart that I made for my girlfriend — thought you might get a kick out of that...

------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Brian,

Thanks for the pics. I kind of think Baltimore is close enough to D.C. that the jumbo slice must have made its way to "The City That Reads."

We actually do have entries on Baltimore: http://slice.seriouseats.com/tags/Baltimore. Maybe not as many reviews as you'd like, but then ...

I know there are Baltimore-area Slice'rs out there (ahem, Pizzablogger?). I'm thinking they'll chime in here with some answers. In the meantime, here's a great place to start: http://www.pizzablogger.org/index.php/category/reviews/baltimore-city/

As for the heart-shape pizza, did your GF like it?

Hasta la pizza, Adam
