The vodka slice we love.

Loaded with savory mushrooms on beautifully charred, pliant crust.

Motorino
Motorino

Look, we're not saying you HAVE to get the Brussels sprouts pie on a trip to Motorino, but we were quite happy this was on the menu last night.

Don Antonio
Don Antonio

We were sure to hit up the slices from this Midtown favorite.

Cowboy Pizza
Cowboy Pizza

A relative newcomer to the NYC pizza scene. Kale on a pie? Yeah, we're pleased.

Cowboy also featured a pizza with sweet chunks of squash, bolstered by raisins and olives.

Forcella
Forcella

Forcella's fried Montanara pie, awesome as always.

Grandaisy Bakery
Grandaisy Bakery

We really loved this butternut squash slice from Grandaisy, loaded with a chunky squash purée. O hai, Fall.

The cauliflower slice, with little charred florets, was also a winner.

Grandaisy's potato pizza came kissed with rosemary.

Can't mess with the classic.

Another excellent butternut squash pie, with creamy mozzarella and tender mini zucchini as well.

That mini zucchini also appeared on this bread crumb-topped pie.

L'Asso
L'Asso

The only pepperoni pizza we encountered, and a welcome one.

Lombardi's

The sweet herb-flecked sauce on this pizza is an ode to old school New York style.

A cheese-free offering from Lucali, with little chunks of roasted tomato.

Satisfyingly weighty with prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, and Parmesan.

The Line Outside
The Line Outside

When we arrived half an hour before the party started, the line had already turned the corner and run the length of the block down Houston Street. By the time doors opened, the line went 'round one more corner.

Lining Up
Lining Up

The basement of St. Anthony's, ringed with pizza on all four walls. Kudos to the Slice Out Hunger team for this ring-around-the-pizza setup, which made for a fast-moving line of carby, cheesy joy.

Pizza Square
Pizza Square

And in the center of it all, happy pizza fans hard at work downing 20-or-so slices. Pop music played from the stereo as we gathered on the floor of a gymnasium-like room. High school homecoming party nostalgia? Hell yes, in the best of ways.
