Phoood: The Junk-Food Blog

Posted by Adam Kuban, May 24, 2004

When it comes to food reviews, there is no shortage of information on the trendy, high-dollar places like Per Se, Masa, and Spice Market. But where do you turn when you want the skinny on fat-packin' foodstuffs? Would the Times ever deign to review Doritos Rollitos, Cheez-It Twisterz, or Yoo-Hoo Double Fudge? We think not.

2004_05_24_PhooodRatings.jpgEnter Phoood, the junk-food blog. With a subhead that reads "Snack food, fast food, pizza, beer, and other delicacies," we like it already. Jim, the proprietor of Phoood and of Ramones Online, writes insightful and concise reviews and then bottom-lines it for us, fast food–style, with a system of smiley-face icons.

His brother, music blogger Coolfer, tells us that Phoood launched May 3.

We especially like one of the first posts, which featured pizza—Tombstone Brick Oven Style Pepperoni Pizza. ("Don't waste your money," Phoood says. "We won't," Slice says.)
