Pizza Face at Dino's Pizzeria

Posted by Adam Kuban, May 21, 2004

coverSpeaking of pizza in movies, Page Six reports that actor Robert Downey Jr. was at Dino's Pizzeria in Astoria filming a movie:

"He looked disheveled and his skin was in bad condition. He was very unfriendly." He was there filming "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," Dito Montiel's memoir about going from the mean streets of 1980s Queens to becoming a Calvin Klein underwear model and lead singer of punk band Gutterboy.

We don't know whether Mr. Downey's alleged skin condition was due to increased pizza consumption, but we do know that this is not the first time that acne, pizza, and Robert Downey Jr. have crossed paths. In 2003, the actor starred in The Singing Detective, the film adaptation of Dennis Potter's BBC serial. In it, he played a character whose horrific skin condition caused him to refer to himself as "The Human Pizza."

We googled Dino's pizzeria and came up with a match at 3001 Broadway. Slice was just in that area last Saturday. Too bad we missed Mr. Downey Jr.
