Say It Ain't So: Joe's Closing Bleecker Street Corner Location
We just got word that Joe's Pizza, a solid slice shop on the corner of Bleecker and Carmine in the Village, is closing its prime corner location. This info comes to the pizza world from real estateobsessed website Curbed.
Seems like the rent has gotten too high. Joe's will maintain its location three doors down.

C'mon... it's only $450 PSF! Doing the math, you would have to sell 1,500 pizzas/mo just to cover your rent. That means that the profits from the first 50 pizzas each day go into your space, not including labor, energy, insurance, etc. No wonder they are closing the doors...too, bad.

Joe's is perhaps the most overrated slice anywhere. The bottom is always so burnt as to render the slice unbendable. Honestly, any Ray's in the city is better than what they serve at Joe's.
I went yesterday to try out the new place; even worse than I previously experienced. Pizza broke in half when I tried folding it. Bland crust, average sauce and cheese. Big deal.
