'A Pound Of Cheese'

Speaking of cheesy stuff, here's a blip from the Daily News, on celebrity voiceovers in commercials:

Hitting the mute button during television commercials can also mean missing out on your favorite celebrities who led their voices to high-profile sales campaigns.

The latest: Julia Roberts' Georgia-peach purr surfaced in AOL's $30 million "Members rule" branding blitz.

That pits her against a bombshell with an even huskier voice: Demi Moore, urging Chevy on our country's drivers.

For boy-toy appeal, there's - no, not Ashton Kutcher, but Christian Slater's voice-over for Panasonic's "Fascinating people, fascinating products" campaign, ads produced by Grey Worldwide to the tune of $50 million.

"I call it 'an invisible visibility,'" says Charlie Miesmer, senior executive creative director at BBDO New York, who looks back most fondly on the day he got to record Jason Robards intoning "a pound of cheese" for Pizza Hut.

A pound of cheese, huh? Something wicked this way comes, indeed.
