Link Roundup

Today's link roundup begins with a story about gardens. Say wha? Yeah. It's a piece out of the Gilroy Dispatch in sunny Cali that recommends growing a themed potager: "For a pizza garden, you could plant oregano, French tarragon, sage, rosemary, thyme, cilantro, basil and parsley, all of which grow well in the South Valley’s Mediterranean climate...

"But why stop with herbs? Try planting vegetables that commonly top pizza such as onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and peppers.

" 'If you want to go all out, I guess you could plant some wheat, to make the crust,' [said Katherine White, a volunteer with the Monterey Bay Master Gardeners.] 'But it would take quite a bit of wheat to ground it to flour.' "

.::.Think you're hit hard by rising gas prices? Pizza delivery drivers are facing a dilemma: "For some who make dozens of stops a day, their hourly wages in tips are hardly enough to keep them on the road."

.::.Speaking of wheelz, a classic-car-themed pizzeria just opened in Houston. "All pizzas are named after classic cars with ingredients to reflect the styles."

.::.Across the pond in London, performance venue and pizzeria Pizza on the Park is sold, leaving 40 acts in the lurch.

OK. That's it for today. I'm out. Hasta la pizza, bambinos!

The photograph here, by the way, is of one of the first tomatoes of this past spring and was grown in the on-premises greenhouse at Fornino.
