Link Roundup: Pizza Guidance System

20050826Searchlight.jpgNew York City's ace delivery folks don't usually have much trouble finding an apartment, office, or what have you. Other parts of the country sometimes prove problematic, however. Vast suburban subdivisions full of similarly named streets and poorly lit house numbers are a pizza driver's nightmare.

Enter the Pizza Beacon, an LED-laden device that you can attach to your door or window. Flip the switch on your Pizza Beacon, hang it up, and its LEDs, visible for up to two miles, will let the pizza dude (and all your neighbors) know that you've got a pie comin' to you.

"A lot of people get tired of going to the window and constantly moving the curtains aside to see if the driver passed their house," says entrepreneur Alex Sabang.

Pizzerias can order a mess of the devices—branding, of course, is an option—to give out or sell to customers.

.::.Speaking of delivery, here's another story about the high price of gas affecting drivers. The new angle here is that an Illinois Domino's is saying it might have to charge for the service, which is typically free at most pizzerias.

.::.A South Carolina pizzeria wins a cook-off and unto it is delivered $5,000 to open a shop in downtown Rock Hill.

.::.Yick! A pizzeria owner in Tucson, Arizona, accused of using the Internets to try to get jiggy with a 14-year-old is delivered a surprise: The "girl" turned out to be a cop.

.::.Deliver me from evil. Competitive eater Ed "Cookie" Jarvis won last Sunday's inaugural Camden Tomato Festival Pizza Eating Contest. Two pizzas plus two bites in ten minutes. Evil.
