A story out of Indiana about the city of Plymouth getting a new pizza-box factory reminded us of some pizza-box links we'd been sitting on here at Slice HQ.
For instance, who knew so much thought went into these things? In designing pizza boxesand, on the restaurateur's end, selecting which type to buy for delivery and take-out ordersone has to take into consideration venting, box shape (cut-corner vs. square), material, and box-assembly requirements (preconsumer or postconsumer). How do we know all this? Because we found this site several months ago, and read its insanely detailed descriptions and strategies dealing with pizza boxes. It might be a bit too geeky for most, but it's a fascinating study of the oft-overlooked pizza-delivery system.
That pizza-box link led us to do more box research, and we found a website that shows you how to build a pizza-box glider. Pie in the sky, indeed.
But why stop at gliders? Try building a pizza-box solar oven.
Or how 'bout this Hong Kongese pizza chain called Pizza Box? We're surprised nobody stateside has thought of this name for a pizzeria. Think of it: "I'm going down to the Pizza Box." It has that same sort of throwback, feelgood, simple-yet-catchy vibe that the name Shake Shack conveys.
