Dear Slice

Dear Slice,

I was wondering if you know where I could find a decent slice in Paris.

I've been dying for some New York–style pizza.

A: Hmm. Like so many of the questions we get here at Slice, we simply don't know the answer. I've never been to France, much less Paris, and I don't think Seltzerboy has, either. I'm pretty sure E-Rock's visited, but he was probably too far gone on wine to bother with les pizzas.

So let's open it up to the international community of pizza lovers: Does anyone know if there's a New York–style pizzeria in Paris?

The one and only time I was in Paris, I had one of the best pizzas of my life! It wasn't NY Style, more New Haven style (i.e, Peppys) but god was it good. A 4 cheese pie with gorgonzola as one of the cheeses. The place was outside the train station that the Eurostar goes into - can't remember exactly where it was, but I'd be sure to find it if I ever make it back!!!

Look in the back of Pariscope -- they do english-language reviews there as "TimeOut Paris", and I think they review pizzerias now and then.

Also, if you google pizza and Paris, chowhoud seems to have discussed the issue of wood-burning pizzas in the city. Some poster named BJ Rocky sez:

I have been in Paris for 5 years now and i can tell you this is a hard mission to find a decent ny style pizza here ! Actualy i unfortunately can't pretend i completed the mission ... still searching ... but if someone found the grale I am definitely intersted !

I had excellent pizza in Paris at Amici Miei. It's in the 3rd on Boulevard Beaumarchais. They have a coal oven and the pizza comes out just slightly charred-- mmmmm!!! my husband and I both loved it! Be prepared to wait though- it's pretty small and fairly popular!
