Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves

20051207Hov.jpgOur name is Hov. At least in the pizza-blog world, apparently. Witness:

So our new plan is to beat Slice at it's own game. Which really shouldn't be that hard, seeing as how it's a NY based pizza blog and we're a Chicago/St. Louis based pizza blog. I mean, this isn't a rap war; blogs from different parts of the country should be able to co-exist. It's Jay-Z [right]. We're Nelly. Why can't we just put out a duet album and get on with our lives?

Well, they say you know you've made it when someone starts hatin' on you, and it looks like we just got the Haterade poured all over us. But no matter. We wish Kate and Josh over at A Slice of (Life and) Pizza all the best. Aside from gettin' all up in our grill, they seem pretty nice. As dorky as pizza-blogging is, it's a fun and rewarding hobby, so it's always good to see other people pursue it.

However, you two can forget about a buy-out deal: Who you think we are here at Slice, "America's Favorite Pizza Weblog," a bunch of Rockefellers?

(Speaking of H- to the O-V, word is he's a fan of Lazzara's Pizza Cafe.)

The more pizza blogs the better, even if I'm on the West Coast and very seldom near any of the places on either pizza blog.

However the apizzalife.com links to Dominos, Pizza Hut & CPK - wtf??? CPK is OK in a pinch but I've gotta be totally strung out desperately in need of a fix to call Dominos or Pizza Hut for anything other than a prank call. At least the reviews on apizzalife.com are for local places. Hopefully they'll start adding some pix to accompany their reviews - that'd improve things.

For now SliceNY remains unchallenged as the pizza blog of record (the same is true for burgers with AHamburgerToday).

Happy Festivus and thanks for a year of pleasant diversions.

I thought it was funny that they were angling for you to buy them and make them rich. I mean, I won't hazzard a guess at how many extra millions you and all your corporate food-blogging minions make off this site and AHT, but I'm sure it's enough to buy a piddly Blogger site, right?

Heh. Yeah. All our extra millions are tied up in offshore accounts.

Adam,

I refuse to let that site represent Chicago pizza. I mean their links consist of Dominos, Pizzahut, California Pizza Kitchen, you get my drift.

That ain't pizza. Here are the places you need to link to Pizanos, Lou Malnati's, and Pizzeria Due.

On a side note, I think the owner's of Pizano's is a cousin or nephew of Lou Malnati. Pizano's has a great thin crust, the buttery Lou Malnati's thick crust, but used on a thin crust pizza. Just perfect.
