In Alaska, It's Pizza by Plane

From InsideBayArea.com:
HARD to believe, but Nome has just gotten its first pizza delivery business, a joint that brings gourmet pies to people's doors and even flies special orders to Bush villages hundreds of miles away.

For free.

It may not arrive hot, but it's all the rage in this Northwest Alaska region where Nome, with its 3,500 residents, had no food delivery options until Airport Pizza launched.

Just got back from Denali alaska and had Lynx Creek Pizza. Their self-proclaimed famous dough was soft and pretzel like and the cheese was a blend of mozz, jack and provolone. Wouldn't make a special trip but if you're desperate for pizza after 2 weeks of rheindeer meat,it's not bad.

Guttergour: That's awesome. I'd love to be able to try it, if only because it would mean a trip to Alaska. I've always wanted to go there.

I'd stick to the rheindeer sausage. Hey, Adam, did you or Ed ever go to Old Forge, PA, the "pizza capital of the world"?

Guttergour: Haven't yet been to Old Forge. I'm not sure if Ed has. It's somewhat nearby and would make a good weekend trip. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and go.

Adam-you and Ed have got to go and report. It's like the Twilight Zone for pizza. Check out my post on Chowhound.
