Bay Ridge Pizza Contest

Posted by Adam Kuban, April 26, 2006

The Pour HouseBrooklyn Democrats for Change, a Bay Ridge political group, will be hosting the Second Annual Best Pizza in Bay Ridge Contest tomorrow night (04/27) at 8 p.m. at the Pour House on the corner of 79th Street and Third Avenue. 79th and Third in Brooklyn, that is.

Tix: $35 at the door.

Here's the press release:

Pizza is the soul food for every Bay Ridgite, but which pizza parlor offers the best slice? Last year Brooklyn Democrats For Change had a pizza tasting for its annual fundraiser and it was such a hit that it’s being repeated, on Thursday, April 27th from 6 to 8 PM at The Pour House, 79th Street and Third Avenue.

Among the pizza parlors competing in this year’s event are: Buon Gusto, Cousin’s, La Sala, Pizza Kitchen, Peppino’s, Verrazano, Vesuvio, Positano, Nino’s, Gino’s and Rocco’s. Tickets are $35 at the door. Everyone gets to taste pizza from each pizza parlor and then mark their ballot to vote for the best pizza in Bay Ridge. What could be better, pizza with a democratic topping!

To make sure that this year’s event is even better than last year, many of the pizza parlor’s have said that they’re going to go all out, so that such ingredients as Vodka sauce and arugula with fresh tomatoes have been mentioned, though the pineapple pizza has been taken off the evening’s menu. And many of the staff intend to stay on hand to cheer on their entries. Who knows, maybe there’ll even be cheerleaders?

Fairness Doctrine: Slice will give equal coverage to Bay Ridge Republicans—if and when they hold a pizza contest of their own.
