Buy 1,000 Pizzas, Get 1,000 Pizzas Free
Be careful what you joke about:
Washington D.C.-based Manny & Olga's pizza was only joking when it printed coupons that said buy 1,000 pizzas and get 1,000 free. But students at Georgetown University are taking the offer seriously.
A campaign is underway on the campus, and, as of yesterday afternoon, 953 students had joined the so-called pizza coalition.

In the District, in Cleveland Park on Connecticut Ave. (another branch in Bethesda), don't overlook Vace Pizza. Vace is a deli that makes thin crust pizza with less cheese than most pizza has (i.e., you don't feel like you've eaten a ticking time bomb for your arteries after eating one of their pies). What's special about Vace pizza is the tomato sauce: It's really fragrant and tasty and, because of it, this pizza passes my cold-pizza the morning-after test. Whereas most pizza just tastes like congealed tastless fat when you eat it cold out of the fridge the next morning, Vace's still has the tangy flavor of its tomato sauce, with just the right amount of cheese. The tomato sauce is so good that you can even put together a cheese-free pizza with all-vege toppings, and it still tastes good. In short, Vace's makes my favorite pizza in the area, at a good price too. Try it!

I think 2 Amy's serves full pies only. I would say it fits an expensive "artisan"-style niche,as does Pizzeria Paradiso (P St. west of Dupont Circle), and M. St. Georgetown. Sure, very nice, but you'll pay for the privilege. Also, very tasty full pies can be found at Faccia Luna, (Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA) But for good SLICES, my votes are for Palisades Pizza (MacArthur Blvd., NW). I also like Vace (Connecticut Ave., Cleveland Park), but it's a different style, more like that of simpler italian stores you may have known as a kid. Simpler, smaller slice, but tasty. Georgetown Bagelry (M. St. in Georgetown) can also be very tasty basic pizza, but one caveat is that if you have the misfortune to catch them at a lull in the day you might encounter tired pizza in the case that they will reheat.
