The results are in, and, according to Friend of Slice Tien Mao, they're being aired as we speak (if you're on Eastern Daylight Time). If you're in later time zones, you might still have a chance to watch; check your local listings. I, for one, will look for a rerun and try to DVR. In the meantime, Tien gave me some play-by-play. He's working from home, multitasking with some TV in the background, I assume.

Gaby's Pizza??? I work in that area, Rachel obviously missed the most popular pizza place in that area which is Margherita Pizza, the place is PACKED constantly. If the Margherita was in the competition, Chicago would be thrashed. The only other pizza champ would be Spumoni Gardens' Sicilian slice.
Yeah I tried Gaby's Pizza, I am starting to realize pizza is in the taste of the eater. Some pizzas are good to some people and to others they are not. I thought Gaby's was okay but the above poster mentioned Margherita which I think makes a superior slice.
You guys are taking this waaay too seriously. There is no way to determine who makes the best NY pizza. I've been a Gaby's customer for about 30 years now. Okay, so waht's better? I dunno - but I do know what's different. Otto (Mario Batali's restaurant) makes fantastic pizza, but to compare the two would be unfair. I also love Ben's pizza on Spring Street, but again, whole different animal. I guess we would have to redefine "pizza" to get a real answer.
Rachel obviously has never been to L&B or DiFara's which are easily the two best pizza shops in the city of New York. Forget about Manhattan. Rizzo's on Steinway in Astoria makes a respectable thin crust New York pizza. Rosa's off of Grand Avenue on 69th ST. in Maspeth is another fine choice.
