Help: Where's the Good Pizza in Puerto Rico?

Over on Serious Eats, Slice's parent site, one of our readers, Lou, asked:

By the way, Adam, you know so much about pizza; what's the best pizza place in the central mountains of Puerto Rico? All we have is the disgusting Pizza Hut. Que lastima.

While I've learned more than a little about pizza in the years I've been Slicing, I'm stumped. So I promised Lou I'd open this question up to all you Homeslices out there. Any tips for Lou?

Note to Lou: Apologies for taking so long to punt this query to the Slicesters!

My first and last pizza in PR was in San Juan back in the 80s. We ordered a large plain pie. Had it delivered to the hotel. We knew there was something wrong as soon as it was in our hands. The overwhelming stench of swiss still makes me gag today when I think about it.

Well there is a a place called Mario's Pizza in San Juan, in front of La AMA, Ave de Diego, that is real authentic italian pizza. My 81 year old father always wants to go there because it reminds him of a place he used to visit in New York

Although this post written for EyeTour.com is about our favorite places in the San Juan / Metro Area, I'd thought it would be of interest since it is pizza related. Hope you enjoy!
