In the East Village: Two Boots vs. Lil' Frankie's

Competitive Pizza (by jebb)

Eastvillagepodcasts.com pits two East Village pizza mainstays against one another: Two Boots vs. Lil' Frankie's. If you've had both and have taste buds, I think you know who wins this one.

For those of us who haven't had either one, how about telling us who wins?

Lil' Frankie's. No contest.

I don't know... I've had Two Boots' Sicilian quite a few times and it's one of my favorite pizzas on earth. The Dude and the Big Maybelle, while a bit gimmicky, are also really good....

What don't you like about them Adam?

the one on the right looks like it has a better crust..

I cannot eat Two Boots pizza, even when friends bring a pie into my local to share. There is nothing right going on with their pizza at all. The friends who swear by it are from Wisconsin and Minnesota, which has gotta tell you something right there.

I like the Dude, vincenzosi, and think Two Boots is OK in a pinch, but it's not a favorite of mine. Can't really say why I don't like it. I think it has more to do with the fact that everyone I know steered me to it when I first moved here but that I didn't find it amazingly overwhelming.

Adam, not to belabor the point, but which one did you try? I've heard the quality varies between the one in the Village and the one in Grand Central (which is the one I frequent)

I used to like Two Boots when I was living in the city (the one in the village). Not my favorite NYC pizzeria, but it satisfies. I've been to the one in Grand Central too and I've never noticed a big difference, for what it's worth.
