Folding Your Slice: It's a New York Thing

This is one of the best pizza T-shirts ever. Available from aNYthing. A little steep at $34 plus shipping. [via Jake Dobkin]

Here in Texas, they serve their pizzas with a fork and knive! Can you believe it?

Yes! I can. I grew up in Kansas, where they do the same thing.

This is absolutely the best T-shirt ever.

We had friends visit from the D.C. area this weekend; the wife had lived in Queens for many years and was lonesome for a thin-crusted NYC pizza (even a non-gourmet one). The husband, not a NYC native for any amount of time, was looking forward to some too, so we got a couple of pies from the local place.

When we started eating, the husband said, "Oh, no! Are you those people who fold their pizzas when they eat them?"

Well, yes....I never think of it as unusual. Not anymore, at least. I think when I moved here from NYC, I thought it was, but probably not. I think I learned to fold them at Joey & Johnny's New York Style Pizzeria in Kirksville, Missouri. (which isn't there anymore).

Thanks for the link--I have a gift-buying occasion coming up in July...
