The Chronicle on Za Pizza, San Francisco

Posted by Adam Kuban, April 6, 2008

Michael Bauer, food critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, continues his Pizza Friday series on his blog Between Meals with a trip to Za Pizza in San Francisco. Za Pizza makes a thin-crust New Yorkish–style pizza:

Bauer says:

Crust: The thin crust is stretched, with cornmeal on the bottom to give it crunch.

Pizza tried: The Da Vinci's Palette is a colorful blend of finely ground spicy sausage, strewn with confetti of red and green bell peppers and purple onions. It has a soft, pliable texture that makes exceptional contrast to the crisp crust and cornmeal. I swear they can hear each bite at the table next door. There are four different slices a day, including a great cheese and pepperoni.
