WTF!? Jay-Z and Beyoncé Visited Lucali's!

Lucali's (by Slice)

The visit was unexpected, says owner Mark Iacono on the New Yorker's website:

So it was hardly surprising, last week, when a Presidential-calibre motorcade pulled up out front. Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z emerged, and were quickly ushered to a table near the chef. Their bodyguard, a man roughly the size of the three-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-dollar Maybach sedan idling at the curb, settled into a chair on the sidewalk, where he enjoyed rounds of gratis espresso and pizza delivered by a giddy waitress. In return, he asked her to prevent the other diners from playing paparazzi. Four civilians enduring a long wait on the bench out front looked on hungrily. By the time they made it inside, the celebs were winding up a leisurely meal. They thanked Iacono and departed, sated and happy.

This is the single best post Slice has ever made. Ever.

I had to check the URL to make sure I hadn't logged on to The Superficial by accident. Awesome.

Forget Beyonce and Jay-Z, last night diners at Lucali's had the opportunity to witness the inaugral visit of Brooklyn native and pizza enthusiast extraordinaire Paulie Gee. That place is a treasure. Incredible atmosphere, delicious, slightly tangy pizza, a ham and five cheese calzone that was filled with just enough ingredients to balance out the perfectly crisp crust and a gracious and accomodating owner/pizzaiolo. I'm hooked.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

Wow! Glad to hear it, Paulie. Glad you liked hte place.

And BTW, the rest of the staff was gracious and accomodating as well. Does anyone know if he puts heat lamps outside in the Winter? That could be a long fribggin' wait in the cold.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee
