John's Pizzeria in Jersey City

20080825-address.jpg

Homeslice Paulie Gee commented this morning on my John's Pizzeria post of last week, tipping me to something I was unaware of until now. I figured I'd bust it out into its own post just to alert folks:

Are you aware the John's has opened a new location just west of the Exchange Place Financial District in Jersey City? I happened upon it yesterday. It's not listed on their website, but it's definitely them. They have the same "No Slices" logo on the sign hanging outside, a coal oven, and the menu looks like the Times Square location's menu. It's a very nice-looking place outside and in, but as folks like to say these days, it is what it is. It's located at 87 Sussex Street.

Adam,

It is the same place…I work right on the water down the block from John’s. The pizza is less than stellar to be honest. I never had the original however this does not hold a candle to La Rustique (right up the block) which I believe I remember you reviewing.

I'm a huge John's fan, so I was really excited when John's Jersey City opened a few months back. Sadly, I agree with Davey. This John's location doesn't touch the Village location. Jersey City residents should indeed head to La Rustique instead.

I still like Prince of Pizza on Bergen Ave. Ehhhhhyoooo!

La Rustique is great. Went when they first opened at their new location on Jersey Ave.. yum!

I also have to agree with the other posters. I went there when they had the half prices pizzas for the grand opening. Pizza was way to thin and very cheap on the toppings. My extra cheese pie was a regular cheese pie anywhere else. So I gave it a second chance around the 4th of July. Boy was I disappointed. Pies where really small for the price and it was like $60 for a pizza with pepperoni and two eggplant parms. Will never go back! La Rustique is worth the $$$!!!! I cannot believe this place is incorporated with the Village location. That place is amazing!
