Chris Bianco on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Tonight

20080925-bianco.jpg

Celebrated pizzaman Chris Bianco (Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix) will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. Bonus "slice" action: Mixed martial arts fighter Kimbo Slice will also be a guest. Perhaps these two slice men can have a throwdown. (Check your local listings.)

Update (1/19/2009): I've posted the video of the appearance below—after the jump) (thanks for the link, Paulie).

He was great. The best part for me was that he doesn't get bogged down in the details of making and handling dough. He basically said don't get confused by the facts. It's not on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! website yet, but you should be able to see the full episode soon. Right now the latest show is 9/24.

Ciao,

I just solidified plans for my journey to determine if Mecca is really located on Adams and N. 7th in Phoenix, AZ. The morning after my son graduates from the Air Force Academy, while a bunch of friends and family hop on a plane to Vegas, my son, my camera and I will be making a slight detour. We'll jump on a 8:25AM flight to PHX. We'll do a little sightseeing and do our best to be the first on line at Pizzeria Bianco so that we can get out in time to catch our 8:20PM flight to LV. And yes, I already checked and the only time in May that CB will be away is for the James Beard Foundation Awards at the beginning of the month.

@Adam, I think you'll be interested to know that I'll be experiencing a "breakfast" first timer as well, when we arrive in PHX that morning. Hint; I'm makin' mine Animal Style.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

@Paulie: I think you should have your son commandeer a fighter jet and scramble out to PHX ASAP after the graduation. Then on to Mozza. I'm sure his superiors will understand. Just make sure to bring them back some pizza from each stop.

And while I'm here I thought I'd take the liberty of posting the youtube link to the Jimmy Kimmel segment:

For those of you who haven't seen it, I strongly recommend you check it out. You'll get a very good idea about what a good guy CB seems to be. He kinda sounds like the Bobcat Goldthwait of pizzaiolos. Do any of you Brooklynites out there know if the Ernie Barry on the accordian is the same guy who owned a club of the same name in Bay Ridge in the 1980s?

Thanks, Paulie. I used that video in my "Year in Pizza" presentation at Union Hall. I should have added it here. Thanks for reminding me. I just updated this post and embedded it.

@Adam, the fighter jet thing would be more than a bit risky. I suspect that like with other good pizza, the best way to enjoy their pies would be right out of the oven. Thanks for the suggestion though. BTW, being a Fornino's fan here's a shot of him you might appreciate:

He's wearing a 1927 replica Yankee hat and we already you're a Yankee fan. Or a fan of very good seats. How did you score those things anyway? Ut oh, now someone's gonna suggest you bartered them for a good review:

Ciao,

Very cool Adam. One of the things I hoped to do when I hit PB is to meet Chris Bianco and tell him that my goal is to someday be mentioned in the same breath as him. Now thanks to your Union Hall presentation, that already come true.

Thanks (I love watchin' that friggin' CB video),

Paulie Gee
