'New York Post' Cover Resembles Artwork of Previous Ed Levine Article

09032008nytvsnypost.jpg

From left: Ed Levine with his New York Times piece from November 6, 2002; New York Post's Page Six Magazine pizza story from August 31, 2008.

Seeing double? A recent piece on six of the hottest pizzerias in New York Post's Page Six Magazine must be channeling its inner Ed Levine-ness. The artwork eerily resembles that of Levine's New York Times piece from 2002 on "The State of the Slice." Modeling his piece yesterday with his most Vanna White-esque charm, Ed had no trouble finding his copy, which was stored safely next to his desk—as if for this very moment. Not that Levine has ownership over the slice artwork concept, but it's fun to see he was ahead of the curve.

That Page Six article is not only a tribute to Ed Levine, but a great sendup to Slice as well. I myself recently visited Roberta's and Toby's after learning about them here and am very glad I did. Those are two very cool places with very good pizza. Additionally, it seems obvious to me that Artichoke owes much of it's success to the positive press it got here initially. Based on some of the names mentioned in those reviews, it appears there are some serious lurkers here on Slice. And lets not forget to mention the Roberta's and 089 photo credits.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee
