Is it 'Co.' or 'Company'?

20081230-co-ext02.jpg

Raphael here in the office just asked, "I want to know, officially, is it 'Co.' or 'Company'?"

So I just called.

Co.: "Hello, Co."

Me: "Adam Kuban here, from Slice, America's Favorite Pizza Weblog."

Co.: "Um, yes?"

Me: "So there's been some confusion about your name. Are you 'Co.' or 'Company'?"

Co.: We're 'Co.' as in 'company.'"

Does that sort out any confusion, Raphael? It's still sort of a nonanswer answer. But we'll just make the call and say that we'll refer to it on Slice officially as "Co." and pronounce it as co.

When I called some hours later, the gal who picked up at the other end greeted me with "Company Restaurant." She added (cheerily) that either pronunciation -- Co. or Company -- is fine but offered that Company is less confusing.

Wife and I went for dinner tonight and it was packed. They're still getting their feet underneath them, but overall, a very good experience. Butter Lettuce salad (with roasted pumpkin and seeds) would have been nice had it not been drenched in dressing, actually contained butter lettuce instead of romaine, and had more of the roasted pumpkin and seeds (the best part). The pizzas were great, especially the Ham and Cheese. Service was very friendly. We'll be back.

Great choice of photos. That one was definitely the best of the bunch.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

packed would be an understatement for last night.

Last night, we watched the waiter tell the two diners next to us (who had waited for 40 minutes for a table and who had ordered 20 minutes prior to this) that the restaurant was OUT of PIZZA DOUGH. It was not even 10PM. The manager, at first refused to even come to the table to talk with the diners, and when he finally did show up he refused to cover even the cost of the drinks. The couple was irate (and rightly so) and one of the diners used the f-word at which point the manager kicked them out of the restaurant.

We were still discussing the horrible treatment the couple had received when NOT TEN MINUTES LATER, the hostess sat another group of 3 diners at the SAME TABLE. We waited for the waiter to come over and humbly apologize for a lack of dough, but instead they brought them FOUR PIZZAS! SO, it appears that you have to be SOMEONE in this town to get decent service (and possibly even PIZZA) at this restaurant.

DO NOT GO TO CO.

The pizza was fine, but nothing amazing. Definitely not worth a 45 minute wait. And definitely not if you need ANY customer service!

Funny how success breeds jerkiness. Let's see how that approach works when the buzz is off this place and it's a long, cold empty March mid-week night.

I'll take a friendly, lesser slice over employee attitude any day of the week.

AvJo, too bad you didn't manage to catch that managers name.

Co. is off my 'to try' list. I don't need that buzz-kill, bad karma crap with my 'za.
