A Thai Pizza Has Bacon and Cheese Stuffed in the Crust

20090122-thaibaconpizza.jpg

Bangkok-based journalist Newley Purnell just hipped me to perhaps the most extreme stuffed-crust pizza yet. On his blog, he says:

You can get it at The Pizza Company, a Thai chain. I haven’t tried it yet. But I just might have to. One interesting detail: it’s served with cheese sauce on the side. (In case you need even more cheese! Presumably there’s no bacon on the side, since there’s “double bacon” in the crust.)

"But I might just have to"? Might? Come on, Mr. Purnell, you have to try it. We'd love to see some actual pictures of this thing.

I was just in Thailand a couple months ago and saw ads for this pizza except with sausage in the crust... it looked delicious!

Judging from the photo, it looks like there's shrimps on this bad boy too.

One of the things I remember about living in Thailand was that delivered pizza came with ketchup packets. After scoffing at the packets, I finally tried some on my pizza... and it was actually good.

I'd check this out. I love seafood.

Whenever my wife returns to Bangkok she can tell how many pizzas I have eaten by the corresponding ketchup packets in our chiller.

The Pizzy Company aint no Artichoke or Di Fara.

Stay away from the sausage crust Thai pizza. It is horrible. My boyfriend and I tried it when we were passing through Nong Khai last year. We ate at the pizza company because we caught a horrible stomach twisting bug in Bangkok and just needed something that didn't include curry.
The pizza was rubbery and horrible and the sausage tasted like it was made from 100% chemicals. Real Thai food is uniformly delicious, so I'm not sure why anyone would ever order American style pizza in Thailand.

Be still my heart.

I'm off to price airfare. Bacon knows no boundaries.

This thread is scary. Very scary.

Am I the only one who thinks the close up in the upper right corner looks eerily close to an eletron micrograph of bacteria breeding?

@kitchenbea - I'm with you all the way.

All of you who say this looks good are crazy. Seriously, this looks like one of those "Sea Monkey" advertisements in the back of comic books from the 1970s.

It makes me uncomfortable that I agree with the last three comments, yet still want very badly to try this.

Argggh!! Kill it with Fire!!
