The Stuffalo: A Buffalo-Chicken-Stuffed -Crust Pizza

20090311-stuffalopizza.jpg

Meal Ticket

The Stuffalo Crust Pizza is a riff on Pizza Hut's stuffed-crust pizzas, with a clucker of a twist: It's stuffed with Buffalo chicken.

The folks at Philadelphia City Paper blog Meal Ticket came up with the idea and tried three different variations:

A heated debate arose when discussing what type of buffalo chicken would produce the best results. An alcohol-fueled faceoff promptly developed between the breaded, already-nuggeted chicken and raw meat contingents. We decided to bake three separate Stuffalos — one featuring pre-cooked popcorn chicken simmered in a homemade buffalo sauce, another built around skinless chicken breast sautéed with the sauce in a pan, and a third option featuring Morning Star Farms fake buffalo wings in lieu of real-person pollo.

Chicken sides have long since migrated on to the major chains' pizza menus. This seems to combine it all into one crazy package. Whether that's a good thing is your call.

Whatever, gastronomeg. Just one bite of stuffalo would change your whole life. Try it, you'll like it!!

I know a fourteen year old who would be in heaven. He loves buffalo wing pizza, so why not throw some in the crust too. I'd be in skinless breast camp, shredded up and I would probably mix in a bit of blue cheese and mozzarella for the stuffin'. Hmm. Maybe this weekend. Thanks, Adam!

Don't thank me, dhorst. Thank the maniacs at Meal Ticket!

Don't forget the Ranch Dressing!!

Fail. If I want buffalo wings, I'll get buffalo wings. The beauty of a good pizza pie is simple ingredients, freshly prepared, on a good crust. Anything else is just ... overkill.

hmmmm....this gives me so many ideas! What about some TexMex style shredded chicken with some corn salsa as a topping? I know it's not a stuffalo, but along the same lines.

@juliebugsmana, you don't think http://tomato.fobby.net/2008/01/30/weird-japanese-pizza/ qualifies as good pizza??

Whatever anyone says, people would buy this pizza. The key to success with it, however, I think, is the McDonald's McRib approach. Offer it every so often, and only for a limited time.

I think its brilliant! This coming from someone who makes homemade pizza every Friday night!

I'd give that a try, even though I'm a traditionalist most of the time when it comes to pizza.

this might be the greatest thing i've ever heard of

Good Idea, and I bet it's tasty too, but why put yourself thru all that extra work tucking them into the crust when you can just pile all those lovely morsels of buffalo chicken right on top where they're meant to be :o) and ENJOY!

Im with apizzagirl this is just the beginning of endless possibilities. What about chicken cordon bleu pizza. chicken stuffed crust with a ham, and shredded swiss or possibily gureyer.

Yummy, I could definitely go one of those! I love my pizza

Are these boneless wings because that would totally be awesome.
