Two Idiot Domino's Employees Do Nasty Things to Food, Upload Videos, Get Fired

20090414-dominos-gross-out.jpg

See the videos, at Consumerist.

Wow. I love how quickly this went down.

Last night, at 7:26 p.m., Consumerist posted videos that some dumbass Domino's employees had taken showing one of them doing disgusting things with food that was presumably sent out to customers—putting banana peppers up his nose and then on a sandwich, sneezing on cheesy bread.

Consumerist readers, using the YouTube account handle and the few identifiable details they could see in the videos, tracked down the Domino's location this occurred in and alerted Domino's corporate. By 10:26 a.m. this morning came word from Domino's HQ that the two asshats had been fired. Good riddance.

Choose Local and Independent

To its credit, Domino's corporate was swift in handling this, but this incident is a perfect reminder why it's better to go to an indie pizzeria.

In the videos, there's no supervision of these two presumably low-level employees, who have no interest in doing or incentive to do anything more than shit around.

I'm not saying that all mom-and-pop pizzerias are models of virtue or that they're immaculately clean (remember the Di Fara DOH scandals?). But at least with the smaller scale, where you know who runs the joint—a family, say, or a couple of brothers—when you see them in the pizzeria, you can make the reasonable assumption that dumbass donutfucks are not dicking around with your order.

Despite my preference for unique and local pizzerias, I do order Domino's on occasion. No more.

And when I can, I'm actually going to the pizzeria to place my order, wait, and carry it home.

That is pretty harsh but that is not going to stop me from never eating at Domino's again, just because 2 idiot slackers pull this shit. God knows who esle where else, at any type eating joint, whether up scale or a "mom and pop" place has not done this type of thing, they just haven't got caught yet. But to hang the entire Domino's Corp is a barbaric, old time Frankenstein movie, Salem witch hunt that I am not going to be apart of. The owner of that Dominos did the right thing, fire the 2 idiots. He should also fire the supposed manager in back and find a manager that supervises the employees, get cameras up to make sure no one is goofing off and pulling this shit again.

I think you may be exaggerating. In any case, I'm happy to be a part of it. The big chains are designed to use the cheapest ingredients and the cheapest labor available (OK, maybe I'm exaggerating now - but not by much). I would expect a lot more gross stuff to happen at them (and their suppliers) than at the places Adam favors.

Another good reason to build a pizza oven at home.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

@Paulie: Word. I saw your oven on Facebook from Adam's trip to your place. It looks awesome! If I ever make it out of Brooklyn, I plan to build a brick oven and adjoining barbecue pit. Totally OT, I know.

This shit needs to be nipped in the bud.
Make tampering with a customer's food a FELONY, and prosecute.

FWIW: I'm a General Manager of a store for a regional pizza chain. We certainly aren't huge, but at 6 stores and growing you can bet I feel personally responsible for the image of my company. You can be goddamn sure none of this is happening in my kitchen. It starts with the hiring, goes through management treating and developing their staff.

This shit infuriates me and while I will say, yes, it does happen at mom & pop places as well as huge chains, it's more likely to happen in the corporate environment- there is little chance the owner is going to walk through the door at any minute.

@Pizzalogist- I go where I can get a good tasting pizza and the price is not overwhelming. Just because there is one bad egg does not mean that all of them are bad eggs. To say ALL people that work at Dominos are like those two is being a bit harsh, don't you think? As for what Adam favor's, I don't give a rat's ass what he favors, I go for what I (as in me) like. Yeah and those employees are in deep shit, they are in jail where they belong, joke or no joke, they have no business goofing off on company time and doing gross shit like that. But I am not going to hold All Domino's for this.

Is anyone else troubled by the references these two bozos make to each other as being "gay"?

Yeah. I picked up on that, famdoc. Unfortunately, given the rest of their behavior, it's not surprising.

I feel the same way I did about Domino's before I saw the video as after the video. Thank God now the rest of America finally agrees with me and can look for some decent pizza.

Well as for these 2 bozos after they do their "time", they might as well buy a one way ticket to some far away place, because who would hire them? The food industry no way, but most other jobs as well.

I make my own pizza at home, now I know why.

@pjracz10: yes, that would be a bit harsh.
