Individual-Size, Slice-Accompanying Pizza Wine in Greenpoint

Miss Heather of the blog newyorkshitty.com finds Pizza Wine at a Greenpoint liquor store. It's a small 375 ml bottle of wine that claims to have been crafted specifically for pizza.

At $3 a bottle (even with tax included) this isn't really much of a bargain. If one bottle is designed to accompany two slices, I'd guesstimate it would take five bottles to match a ten-slice pie. That totals to $15. For that kind of money, you can buy a couple six packs of decent beer.

Ten-slice pie? Where is Miss Heather getting a ten-slice pie? Note: A pizza is usually cut in eight- or six-slice configurations.

1. Hell, the $.99 store next door has off-brand 2 liters of soda for the low low price of $.99. Cheaper per ounce than wine or beer!
2. Are they implying that the wine is perfectly paired for pizza? I'll have to try that for myself.
3. I hope in the remake of Saturday Night Fever, the opening scene includes the classic two slices made into a sandwich accompanied, in a modern take, by a small bottle of pizza wine.

The sad part is that Greenpoint is severely lacking in decent pizzerias :

(except Casanova on MCGuinness - they're gandma slice is the best!)

I have a special soda created just for pizza, even though it says Pepsi it really is a special pepsi meant just for pizza eaters and only costs $4.95 a 16oz bottle. Let me know if you are interested to buy one
