Dear Slice: I'm Goin' to Disney World

20090713-pizzafari.jpg

Just got this photo in a quick "sent from my BlackBerry" message from FOS Tien Mao, along with the subject line "A Pizzafari at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Not going in! Too scary!"

Come on, Tien: You're not going to take one for the team?

It is gross. I think we actually have a review on this place already! YUCK to all pizza at disney

@pizzaexpert You are a very funny guy. However, you don't have a review of the place on your site.

Give the guy a break. I'm sure he meant "we" in the best communal sense of the word, he wasn't being literal.

Speaking of Disney pizza, does anyone remember the pizza that they served in the parks in the early-mid 90s? I specifically remember eating it on several occasions somewhere in MGM (the old Aladdin themed restaurant?) and at one of the restaurants surrounding the EPCOT Future World fountain. It was a very thick, square slice that was served in a styrofoam container. The pizza was really hard to eat by hand, so knives and forks were almost required. Eventually, they replaced this pizza with the traditional (crappy) pizza that they serve today, but I still have the occasional craving for this long forgotten Disney pizza.

The best pizza I have ever had at a family resort was at the Sun Valley ski montain. At at least two of their three spectacular on mountain day lodges they have two granite wood burning pizza ovens. I can't come up with a photo though. Here's a link to the resort:
