Leftovers: The Day's Stray Links

  • Pizza in a Cone: Yes, again. Cone pizza just doesn't seem to be catching on—at least not here in the States. Yet another company, this one Spanish, is tilting at windmills. [EMD]

  • Pizza Site Review: Worstpizza.com, analyzed. [Blog Pizza]
  • Speaking of Which: "Pizzaexpert" offers to sell worstpizza.com to AOL. [SAI]
  • LA: S. Irene Virbila reviews Bottega Louie, whose thin-crust pizzas are "not particularly inventive but fine." [LAT]

  • NYC > Openings: Pizza and more at West Village sister spot to Alexandra. [ZagatBuzz]
  • NYC > Openings: Angelina Pizza Bar opening on UWS with "what may be the world's first rotating brick oven." Whatevs. There are already two in NYC. [ZagatBuzz]

I enjoyed the site for the pizza cone people, especially the "Informational Pamplet" section

First, congrats again to WorstPizza.com on our review of their site.

Second, I wish them the best of luck on their offer to AOL of their blog for sale.

Finally, I think that I should start my own top 10 blogs that a company such as AOL should acquire if interested. I am very sure that several of the pizza blogs that I have reviewed would be good contenders including Slice.

On that note, I would hate to see the small blogs with so much promise give in to the big sites. This, in my opinion, will take out the good flavor of the small blog and will add a touch of unwanted corporate. In the end, small blogs should always dominate as they are very personal. When they go corporate, the personal touch is watered down. Us pizza lovers should know about that.

When corporations take over a good thing, for example Domino's or Papa John's, the flavor is lost. But when you go to a small NY pizzeria owned by one passionate chef, you will get the most personal attention that your pizza deserves. Do you see the analogy?

Will pizzaexpert remain on as a consultant in charge of shameless self-promotion on Slice?

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

I'm sure that can be arranged, seeing as how we pay him nothing for his services as is! ;)

You guys are too funny! I will try to remain neutral to be consistent with my review. :)
