Video: Doctor Who Tries to Call U.N.I.T., Gets Pizza Geronimo Instead

20090728-doctor-who-pizza-geronimo.jpg

The 2009 Doctor Who Easter special, Planet of the Dead, just materialized Stateside on Sunday (it was originally broadcast on BBC One and BBC HD on April 11). In it, the Doctor finds himself stranded on the planet San Helios with a busload of Londoners. While trying to call U.N.I.T. with his sonic-screwdriver-enhanced cellphone, he transposes two numbers and ends up calling Pizza Geronimo instead. In case you were wondering, a quick Google search reveals there is no Pizza Geronimo in London. Video, after the jump.

First it was Wallis Simpson showing up out of nowhere...now David Tennant's Dr. Who. Who is going to be next guys??

Wow, the quality of the acting has really deteriorated since the Tom Baker years.

Even if it is fictional, Pizza Geronimo, if it is in the UK, definitely has sweetcorn as a toppings option. I also like the Native American name standing in for an Italian name ;)

@HeartofGlass: I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. David Tennant is an AWESOME Doctor. You can't judge his work by this one clip. Fans named Tennant the best Doctor, with Baker coming in second: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6211584.stm. I often doubt the wisdom of the crowd, but in this case I'm going to join the mob. ;)

Tennant is a great Doctor, but I'm hard pressed to put him above Baker. FWIW, if there *was* a Pizza Geronimo, it would more likely be in Cardiff than London.

Adam - My hubby loves this stuff!! I like Tennant, he's done a fine job. This new guy they have coming in is...young. We'll see how he does.

@DJ Dedd: Being unfamiliar with the nuances of UK cities, I'm wondering why Pizza Geronimo would be more likely in Cardiff. Because of the Cardiff Rift?

I heart David Tennant and seeing his face here on SE made for a happy surprise!

@Adam-- I guess this clip didn't do him justice--I haven't seen any new episodes, but based upon the recommendations here, I will check it out on YouTUb!

YouTube, I mean!

@Heart: Well, IMO, this episode was fairly lackluster. According to Wikipedia: "Reaction to the episode was mixed: the audience gave the episode an Appreciation Index of 88—considered excellent—but critics gave average reviews to the episode. The consensus among critics was that it was enjoyable as a whole but that it was only an average script. The main point of praise was [Lee] Evans' performance alongside [Noma] Dumezweni in scenes set on Earth, which countered their criticism of the events on San Helios as being relatively boring."

@Adam Kuban got to agree Tennant is excellent, my favourite doctor but then im only 24 so he's only the second ive watched
