Dear Slice: 'I Made It to Delancey Last Night'

OK, so I actually got this email on Thursday, so I guess our friend here made it to Delancey last Wednesday, but who's counting? A few days doesn't change the sentiment. For those of you who don't know, Delancey is the Seattle pizzeria newly opened by Brandon Pettit, husband of überpopular food blogger Molly Wizenberg (Orangette). Needless to say, its arrival, beautifully documented on Wizenberg's site, has been highly anticipated by food bloggers and food-blog readers. Here's some intel for you. The Mgmt.

Adam,

I got to Delancey last night to try out Brandon and Molly's new restaurant. The pizza was amazing. I wish I had gone with more people so I could have tried more kinds. I tried the Brooklyn (an ode to Di Fara) and the Crimini.

Dear Slice, Letters From Our ReadersI know Brendan took many trips to pizza places far and wide before developing his recipes. The crust was really perfect chewy and and wonderful! No sagging and a nice looking upskirt. The crimini pizza was a white pizza with shaved mushrooms and mozzerella. The Brooklyn was a combination of mozzarella, aged mozzarella, grana padano, tomato sauce, and snipped basil. Really tasty. We started with a fresh, nicely dressed arugula salad with signature radishes (anyone who has read A Homemade Life (Molly's novel) knows that Brendan and Molly love them) and finished with Molly's amazing bittersweet chocolate chip cookie with gray sea salt.

If you make it to Seattle, it is a bit of a trek (I was taking a red eye back to New York so I took a bus from Downtown Seattle to Ballard and then got back to the airport by taking two buses) but well worth it. It has only been open a week, and I had to wait 40 minutes to get a table.

I'm quite looking forward to checking Delancey out. If all goes according to plan, I'll be there Thursday night.

WikiAdam, if you come in make sure you say hello!

Is it lame that I'm totally starstruck to be commenting after THE brendan??

it's been a lot of fun watching Delancey go from a polariod of a storefront on Orangette into a real restaurant. i'm telling anyone i know who's going to Seattle to check it out! my vacation to Seattle was a year too early.

dammit. i mean brandon. i've only been reading the blog for three years...

Brandon! Not sure if you're reading your Yelp reviews, but I'm the one who started hers with, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh wowwwwwwwwwwwww."

Seriously, your pizza was AMAZING. I cannot wait until I get another chance to eat it (right now I have a reservation on Sept. 17, but I don't think I can wait that long).

For those of you who live in Seattle, GO! (But please, not on the nights I want to go...)

I remember Delancey and Brandon mentioned/featured in 'Chris Bianco's Pizza Making Philosophy'
@Delancey Congrats on your opening!

Definitely will say hello, Brandon. Looks like it will be Friday night instead of Thursday, unfortunately. Thursday's my birthday, but I just found out I'm being thrown a surprise party that night (some surprise, right?), so I'll have to push my visit back a day. Lousy birthdays, screwing up everything!

I'm going to Delancey tonight - cannot wait.

Love Delancey. Will be putting up photos from my 4th visit tonight here. Amazon is telling me that Orangette's book will ship on Friday. Then I will know a little more about how one of my five favorite restaurants came to be.

Suomynona, those pictures look amazing. I can't wait!
