Slice Poll: Do You Fold Your Slice?

This one might only be relevant to New Yorkers, since the "fold hold" or "pizza a libretto" seems to be a New York thing.

Do you fold or not? So as not to influence this discussion, I'm not revealing my answer until after the poll closes on Friday.

I have no preference when it comes to folding a slice; sometimes I fold it, sometimes I do not. I let the slice decide.

Ooooo..at the moment of my voting (a "no," by the way), its tied 26-26. Closer than I thought!

add a second on the above comment, tho in memory of the sacred pizza shops in flatbush in the 50s and early 60s folding a pie was the only way to consume the wonderful goodness, oil slick down the wrist was a given
would say today 75% fold 25% straight
forza pizza

I agree with Jaysus. Let the pie decide. I dont like it when both the top and bottom of my mouth are touching crust so I voted no fold. Those who are committed to the fold can find themselves in unfamiliar territory. I was watching man vs. food with that crazy chubby guy when he was at the Chicago toursit trap UNO's and took a slice of their pan pizza and tried folding it! Has anyone seen this? Needless to say the crispy crust broke and he had pizza all over himself and just stuffed it in his mouth anyways. It was a mess haha. I was embarassed for him.

Fold Responsibly,
Alberto

I voted yes.

I usually do for protection from any messiness, but I also eat some bites without folding the pizza in order to taste the balance in the pizza a little better.

This is like asking "Do you Breathe?" Yes, I breathe, and yes I fold. I don't for every pizza, but for a NY slice, of course I do. What a waste of polldaddy.com's functionality.

Fork. I know. I'm horrible.

Often times the moisture content of the mozzarella in combination with an overdose of olive oil can cause a New Haven thin crust pie to be overcome by E.D. Not only is folding necessary, but the sagging tip needs to be folded back, creating somewhat of a "package". Just as it is impossible to translate from one language to another with absolute precision, it is impossible to comprehend the vocabulary of a great pizza when a knife and fork are the "translators". Using "hardware" between the pie and the mouth IMHO is a sacrilege!
