Video: Tabasco Singing Pepperoni Pizza Commercial

20091008-tabasco-pizza-commercial.jpg

OK. I just saw this while watching The Daily Show tonight, and I have to say, it really, really weirds me out. While I know people who dig Tabasco on their pizza, I'm now afraid that shaking some of the hot stuff on my slice would cause it to break out in a greasy barbershop quartet. Do you add Tabasco to your pizza? (Video, after the jump.)

Not at all. Crushed red pepper adds less flavor but delivers the all the spice I need on a pizza. Although I love Tabasco on everything other than pizza, I think Tabasco overpowers the pizza's distinct flavor. And you're right about that commercial being weird. Creepy too.

Texas Pete baby! It makes 'Za so tasty.

Never tabasco, but definitely sriracha sometimes!

I don't like Tabasco, it tastes metallic to me. Red pepper flakes are all I need. But now I am tempted to try sriracha....

i heart tab on a pep pizza,
but i agree with cervantes008 that the spot is weird and creepy.
I like my pepperoni dead please.

I feel like this is a punishment for gluttons in Dantes Inferno

Funny video! But I always liked Frank's Hot Sauce, not Tabasco. Frank's is used in Buffalo Hot Wings. I've never put it on pepperoni pizza slices before; I usually use extra oregano, (dry) crushed red pepper: Utica (NY) grind, and grated Pecorino Romano Cheese; but I'll give Frank's Hot Sauce a try.

Sometimes ~ either Tabasco or Frank's or pepper flakes. Depends on how spicy the pepperoni is.

If it's good pizza I leave it alone. If it's sub par pizza. I love some Tabasco or Frank's.

Don Draper and the rest of the Sterling-Cooper Ad Wizzards couldn't come up with a commercial that could make me want pizza and Tobasco any more than this one - seriously.

I do put hot sauce on leftover pizza eaten straight from the refrigerator. I'd go sriracha over tabasco for thickness and garlicky flavor. I just put some chipotle hot sauce on some leftover smoked mozz and mushroom pizza I made last night. Super yum.

The day after I read this post I saw this commercial...
Texas Pete Chasing Pizza
Pretty funny. Why is the pizza so scared???

thanks,

hot sauce on pizza is delicious (on occasion), but definitely NOT Tabasco. It tastes like spicy vinegar, but not like hot sauce. One time in college, one of my roommates finished my bottle of Franks and tried to hide this by pouring Tabasco in the empty bottle. Big mistake.

I use a little Frank's from time to time, but the bigger secret is to use a little mustard, that's right mustard. Use whichever you really, really like, Grey Pooped-on, deli, hot or sweet, it depends on your personal taste. Then perhaps, add some thin tomato slices, a little red onion and a dash of hot sauce and you have created something extraordinary. It's not for everyone, but then what is? Still if it is your taste, particularly you generally ignored vegetarians, then you have found something special. Enjoy something different!

I always prefer Franks or Melinda's.
