'$5 Is Too Much for Burnt Pizza at Di Fara!'

Always Hungry's Arthur Bovino has a bone to pick with Di Fara and its burnt slices:

Two 'slice' pies were made, and overcooked. The oil separated (before Dom's signature drizzle), the cheese turned orange, and two-thirds of the crust's rim was charred. The final scattering of grated cheese resembled a masking, not the pleasant accent it can be. Worse, when three patrons lifted slices plate to mouth, the upskirt was black as the coal used in Frank Pepe's ovens. But you can't just go on sight. Right? This was once. Right? What about when pies are made? Is the end of service a valid excuse?

That's too bad. The last few times I've been, Mr. DeMarco seemed to had gotten the burning problem under control. Sad to see it happening again.

I still love his pie. I thought it could be hype but when I've had it it was awesome.

Had it happen to me once in all my visits, but seems like a bad string of luck for Always Hungry. The lesson should be, order a pie, not slices.

You wouldn't really want to get on your bike for that now, would you?

"The lesson should be, order a pie, not slices."

Or to just tell them you ain't gonna pay for something like that and request a new piece.

Bespoke pies aren't immune from burning, folks. I only order custom pies, and I've still gotten burned pizza there.

Why do I think if one showed the bottom of a whole pie burned some response's would be. Order a slice! LOL

it's not burnt , it's just brooklyn

Of course every pizzeria can burn a pizza from time to time, the point is whether one should be expected to pay for such an item or not.

There is simple no f*&king way I would ever pay for a burnt pizza like the one in the pic above. If the purveyor of such a burnt pie ignored such a plea, may there dough always over ferment and there teeth rot!

That is burnt; should've asked for a refund or another slice!

We don't eat out to pay for burnt food; that doesn't make sense!

What do you think the helpful staff at Di Fara's would say to someone trying to send something back?

I think that's burnt and wouldn't eat it. Still I bet you could resell it to another waiting customer for a couple bucks haha. I've thought about offering to purchase other customer's leftovers while waiting for my own pie.

I dunno, it looks like the typical burnt pizza you guys all rave about. Maybe its a little darker, but every crust I see the writers rave about is burnt to some degree.

@tjmile1: No. This is burned to craziness. The others we rave about are "artfully charred," or some such wankery pizza-geek terminology—i.e., at least half the surface area is golden-brown and not GREASY COAL-BLACK.

I'm with you Adam.. anything that's black is burnt. "char" was become an excuse for a bad pizza.

That should be has ,not was.
