Eyeing the Needle
Tutta Bella's Westlake location is spacious, airy, and has a great view of the city's iconic landmark. If you're approaching from Westlake, it's one level above the street.
Not Very Subtle
Hmm, you think Tutta Bella has VPN status? Eh, who can blame them for plastering the reminder everywhere, including on napkin bands? They were the Northwest's first pizzeria to win the certification and each of the mini-chain's four locations maintains the standard.
Pros: Crisp crust; they don't take authenticity so far that they don't cut the pie for you; an ample amount of cheese while still maintaining balance. Cons: I didn't find the Margherita here flavorful at all. Of the VPN pies I tried this trip and in my life, this was one that demonstrates that just maintaining the standard is not enough.
A little pale. Had to sneak this one out of the joint, since I was one of only a few occupied tables so late in the afternoon and would have attracted a lot of attention upskirting the slice.
Medium-puffy. A little dense. The bite was medium-spongy. Good chew, good crispness. Just not very flavorful. Which was too bad, because I really wanted to like this place. The staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating.
