Totonno's Reopening Wednesday, February 10

Our man Ed Levine just got off the phone with Totonno's owner Lawrence Ciminieri, who tells us that Totonno's is reopening next Wednesday, February 10 at noon.

Ciminieri says he himself will be making the pies that day.

We're confident that this is the real deal this time. Ciminieri says he will have the necessary permits in place, and that the pizzeria will be ready to go on Wednesday.

don't you guys know about the boy who cried wolf?

Yea, I heard Elvis was going to be there too.

see you there

Someone go see it (and report back) so we can believe it!

Any weather related update? I'm more than will to drive 40 miles in the snow, but I gotta know that there's gonna be some that coal oven treasure at the other end.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

Paulie: My advice is to CALL AHEAD. Apparently, over the weekend, Lawrence's mom, Cookie, called Ed to hedge a bit about the opening date, saying that they expected to have all the permits by Monday (yesterday). And then Lawrence called Ed after that to assure him that they would be open — if the weather cooperated.

My guess is that ... oh, never mind. When it opens, it opens. This is a crazy saga!

As of 11:15, they are not answering the phone and the machine says they are "in the process of repairing the restaurant." Not looking good for a re-open today...

This has actually gotten quite ridiculous.

Saying that you "expect to have" all the permits by a certain date (particularly when dealing with NYC red tape) is nothing less than wishful thinking.

Stop claiming opening dates until you have ALL of the necessary permits actually completed and approved. That being said my mouth is watering in anticipation of the re-open and best of luck getting the doors open again! :)

@Pizzablogger: It's well past ridiculous ... it was ridiculous when he was predicting they'd be open in June...and then July...and then August...and then late September/October...and then "definitely" by the New Year. I ate there for the first time two weeks before the fire, and I'm as excited as anyone to finally get back, but stop stringing us along and just tell us when the first pie comes out of the oven!

small business dudes are just as keen to open and get back to making some money, as you are to slobber all over their wares.

building delays are enough to drive anyone insane. sometimes denial is the only way to soldier on.

put your bib in the closet and wait til you hear the door is actually open.

(i'll be there!)
