Daily Slice gives a quick snapshot each weekday of a different slice or pie that the folks at the Serious Eats empire have enjoyed lately.
Jiannetto's Pizza Truck was parked outside P.S. 29 on Henry Street in Brooklyn over the weekend, and their grandma slice called my name. It's a thinnish crust, topped with a dollop of plum tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, and fresh basil.
It was steaming hot (which was a lifesaver in the frigid cold), with a crackly, pleasantly crunchy bottom skin on the crust. I'll give them full credit for texture, but they failed sauce. The copious serving was candy-sweet and slightly ketchupy. The slice came with a single torn basil leaf. Another one would have helped.
