It was, as several of you guessed, a fresh clam pie from Zuppardi's Apizza in West Haven, Connecticut, which I was dying to try after reading Ed Levine's glowing recommendation.
It was the first pie to disappear at my niece's second birthday party. (Yes, the grown-ups hogged it all.) Briny fresh-tasting clams (and their juices), loads of garlic, lusciously oiled crust—let's just say I devoured more than my share.
