Daily Slice gives a quick snapshot each weekday of a different slice or pie that the folks at the Serious Eats empire have enjoyed lately.

It's one thing to incorporate crisp, foldy, and just-chewy-enough into a regular-size slice but it's another thing altogether to nail those qualities in a piece of pizza the size of your head. But that's what Classic Slice in Milwaukee's Bay View area seems to do.

I stopped in for a Special of the Week (S.O.W. in Classic Slice parlance) — spicy calabrese and arugula. While the sauce was perhaps a tiny bit too sweet, the heat of the spicy calabrese kept it in check. And the crust, apart from texture? Plenty flavorful.

Fun trivia: This is the place that made the pizzas for artist John Riepenhoff's recursive pizza.
