In the shadow of the BQE, a few steps from the Lorimer subway stop in Williamsburg, lies Carmine's Pizzeria II. Equipped with a spacious back patio, a beer and wine license, and an arsenal of more than 25 different pizzas, Carmine's II offers almost too many choices.
I made like Brutus and took a stab at the Caesar (Chicken Caesar, to be exact). And, friends, Romans, and countrymen, I am here to praise it. The pizza is loaded with warm—yet unwilted—romaine lettuce on a sturdy flatbread crust. Resting upon the lettuce are tender strips of marinated chicken breast and a shimmering drizzle of Caesar dressing. Parmesan shavings make their presence known with each savory bite. Free-floating croutons complete the slice aesthetically and the ones that don't end up on the floor contribute a crunch.

Sure, the slice is really just a salad on flatbread, but how often can you pick a salad up with your hands?
