Have You Ever Had Good Airport Pizza?

Trekking across the country can be as tough on your patience as it is on your stomach, and with most airlines offering pretty lackluster in-flight dining options, grabbing a bite during a layover is usually a smarter option. When hunger struck on a layover at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, I opted for a Margherita pizza from Real Food Company.

My personal-sized pie was topped with creamy mozzarella and threads of fresh basil, but the best part—to my surprise—was the generous portion of thick-sliced tomatoes. The tomato may look a touch on the pale side, but it managed to taste remarkably sweet and juicy.

The worst part about this pizza was the crust. It got a dose of texture from a crunchy cornmeal coating, but otherwise, it was soft and pale. At $8.99 for a personal-size pie, it's no bargain. On the streets of New York, this pizza couldn't compete, but for airport fare, it's hard to do a whole lot better.

Other than Wolfgang Puck or CPK, is there a viable option for pizza while flying the friendly skies? Have you found any decent pies in airports?
