Staten Island's Goodfellas Pizza Opening Wood-Fired Pizza School
As anyone who visits Slice regularly knows, there is no sign that the wood-oven pizza phenomenon is anywhere near running out of steam. A lot of cats are getting into the game or thinking of it, and someone's got to teach them the ropes, right?
It will be a completely hands-on experience turning pizza makers from all over the world into gourmet artisans who will master the art of wood fired pizza. We also will be focusing on gourmet breads, sauces, cheese making and offer a variety of services from custom brick ovens to complete consulting on start-up operations.
Goodfella's joins an already large market of pizza schools out there — Roberto Caporuscio's at Kesté in Manhattan, Tony Gemignani's International School of Pizza in San Francisco, and Peppe Miele's at Antica Pizzeria in Los Angeles.
You know another way to learn how to do wood-fired pizza (if you have the space, time, and money)? Pull a Paulie Gee and build an oven in your backyard. That's what Caleb Schiff did — and you can follow him from backyard oven tinkering to building an honest-to-goodness pizzeria in his miniseries Building a Pizzeria.
