Is is ready yet?
To celebrate the end of the school year, the students at San Francisco Community Alternative School cooked pizzas in the cob oven sitting in the school's front yard.
Stretching the Dough
Most of the students chose to roll out their dough using pins. There were a few attempts at dough tossing over the course of the day though.
Spreading the Sauce
Spreading the sauce could get messy, though we think this kindergarten student is doing a pretty good job!
Topping the Pies
Students were given the choice to top their pies with vegetables fresh from the school garden. There were a few calls for pepperoni, but ultimately the kids seemed pretty happy with the choices—even the edible flowers! California-style pizzaioli in the making?
Pies in the Oven
They enlisted the wood-fired oven to cook their pies, and also to roast some corn.
Think they liked it?

Master of Ceremonies
Lindsey Whited, the Garden Coordinator at the school, stretches some dough. She gets the credit for the day of pizza-making, as well as a year of crops from the garden.
Yep, the kids liked the pizza.
