La Montecarlo is located at Vicolo Savelli, 13, just a few short blocks from Piazza Navona, in Rome, Italy.
Raffaele Rolling It Out
I ordered a straight-up pizza Margherita (€ 5,50) and then headed back to the kitchen to shoot some photos. Here's pizza guy Raffaele rolling out a dough to extreme thinness.
Here's another shot of Raffaele working the dough. I love the collection of dough balls on the shelf!
Mesmerizing Sauce Spirals
The sauce is simple, smooth, not overly-sweet, and amply-applied.
Montecarlo does not skimp on the cheese. It's creamy, rich, and a little sharp —all at the same time.
Our table ordered four Margheritas. I clocked their time in Montecarlo's wood-burning oven at exactly 75 seconds.
Meet Their Margherita
My personal pizza, ready for attack.
A view of my pizza's crispy charred underside.
La Montecarlo also serves salad and pasta. My friends and family raved about both.
La Montecarlo is busy throughout the day and late into the night.
After eating my pizza, I headed back to the kitchen to catch a little more of the action.
Fresh from the Fire
Waiter heading off to another table with three pizzas.
"That one's mine."
Snapshot of La Montecarlo's menu: very fair prices.
