Dear Readers, The email I just received from Scott is only one of many similarly heartening missives I've received in the last month or so. If you've written me and felt like your email has gone down the wrong series of tubes, don't be discouraged. This site was mentioned in the New York Post today in a story about Google Maps mashups. Referring, of course, to our Slice Pizza Map. Nyslice.com lets hungry New Yorkers see the city with topographical pizza goggles on. In other words, the way it was intended. Unfortunately, the paper botched our URL. Reading Chez Pim today, I came across some alarming info: One of the Internet's great strengths is that a single blogger or a small political group can inexpensively create a Web page that is just as accessible to the world as Microsoft's home page. But this democratic Internet would be in danger if the companies that deliver Internet service changed the rules so that Web sites that pay them money would be easily accessible, while little-guy sites would be harder to access, and slower to navigate. Sorry there's been very little in the way of new pizza posts here on Slice. The day job has been keeping me so busy I've had little energy to do anything other than watch Battlestar Galactica reruns when I get home at night. Not really. But you'll lose your reservation if you don't. Anyone interested in getting on the standby list should e-mail pizzaparty [at] sliceny [dot] com. We anticipate spots opening up, as a lot of folks who reserved haven't paid yet. Just e-mail us with your name and number of desired tickets (limit 4 per person).
