Katrina Aid
For some reason, Slice is popping up really high when people run searches for Katrina relief efforts. That's not good. Too many people are clicking through to our site when they should be going somewhere useful. So if you've arrived at our site in this way, here is a list of links to charity and relief websites, most of which come from FEMA: SHARE YOUR HOME HurricaneHousing.org DONATE CASH America's Second Harvest Oxfam America American Red Cross Catholic Relief Services Hurricane Relief Fund Habitat for Humanity (At some point, they're going to have to start building stuff for people to...Hurricane Pizza Relief
The folks at Pizza Marketing Quarterly have set up a website to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Pizza Relief offers a way for pizzeria owners and suppliers to send support to the Big Easy and other areas struck by the 'cane. Sounds weird asking pizzamakers and suppliers to help, huh? We had a little chuckle too, at first. But, according to PMQ's website, several such entities have contacted the magazine and asked how they can help. Some have pledged to send pizza trucks (yes, they do exist), while others are sending frozen dough and cheese. At Slice, we usually...Katrina Relief Efforts

If you live in New York City, subscribe to Time-Warner Cable, and have a high tolerance for hot air, you can tune to NY1 between 6 and 7 p.m. tonight or tomorrow to catch this site's editor & publisher on the air. NY1, for those nonNew Yorkers reading this, is like a CNN for the Big Apple. The allNew York-all-the-time channel will air a segment on Google Maps mash-ups in which I appear blabbing about how neat the tool is. Slice, of course, uses the function in our recently released Slice Pizza Map, which plots all the pizzerias that...Renovations Finished
Regular readers of Slice will notice that our renovations are complete. There's not much to say about them except that they bring Slice more in line with its sister site, A Hamburger Today. In addition to a bunch of back-end organization of archives and an updated flag, we've added a Tags feature to our entries. You'll find them just below the headline on posts. It's just another way to browse and was inspired by a post I read on the blog Ishbadiddle. Gone are any links to The Pizza Peel. We weren't really paying much attention to it, and activity...Closed for Renovation
We will return Monday, August 08....Our Condolences
We have lots of readers in and from England and the UK. We hope you and yours are safe....Pizzerias, Pizza Fans Needed for TV Show
Slice has a bulletin board forum dedicated to pizza. It's called The Pizza Peel. I've got mixed feelings about the continued usefulness of this site feature, but every now and then, something pops up on it that catches my eye. Like this message from a TV producer. I thought I'd highlight it here on the main part of the site: I’m looking for passionate pizza chefs for a Discovery Times Channel series called '15 Films About Pizza'. I need a pizza chef that believes the Chicago deep dish is the one and only- and a New Yorker that believes the...Now It Can Be Told
It's been a bit quiet around Slice lately, hasn't it? We apologize for that. Like a mom who ignores the toddler in favor of the newborn babe, your editor in chief here at Slice has been working behind the scenes for the last month on a new niche foodblog, this one dedicated to hamburgers. It's called A Hamburger Today and is now ready for consumption. What does this mean for Slice? Well, now that the heavy lifting has been done on A Hamburger Today, I plan on updating Slice more frequently than I have been in the past few...Slice is part of the Foodblog Ad Network.
