Obama Orders Pizza from Dom DeMarco's

This nation—at least half of it—always seems fascinated with what our presidents eat and where. Nattering nabobs like to pick apart their ordering options. Haters like to say, "Who cares?" We've had the opportunity to highlight President Obama and the First Lady's numerous burger runs, but it's rare he does pizza. On that note, did you see that the prez ordered a dozen pizzas and cannoli from Dom DeMarco's Pizzeria in Las Vegas? More

St. Louis's Pi to Make Pizza at White House at Obama's Request

Remember all that hullaballo about Obama's favorite pizzeria being Italian Fiesta Pizzeria? And then our man in Chicago, Daniel Zemans, came through with the news that, maybe, just maybe, Barack Obama's favorite pizzeria might be Pi in St. Louis? Looks like he was right. The president has asked Pi to come to the White House and make pizza for a pizza party. "From what it sounds like, [the White House kitchen] the top of the line," [Pi partner Ryan] Mangialardo said. "They should have everything I need there to make the pizza happen." I wonder if there's actually a pizza... More

Inauguration Dinner: 'Hawaiian' Pizza

In honor of President Barack Obama's inauguration today, I decided to order a "Hawaiian" pizza for dinner tonight. I say "Hawaiian" in quotes because I don't like the traditional (is Hawaiian pizza even traditional?) Canadian bacon part of the equation. I substitute in pepperoni instead. So sue me. They're both pork products, and pepperoni is so much spicier. The Hawaiian connection is, of course, a nod to the president's home state. Not Quite Nigella's Obama Pizza

Wow. Just wow. Even Australians are getting in on the Barack food madness. Not Quite Nigella does a Barack Obama pizza: Firstly, please don’t laugh at my effort. OK you can as I’m not with you. I’m not American as you may know but I am incredibly excited about the upcoming inauguration and the Presidency of Barack Obama. Just because we can’t vote and don’t live in the country doesn’t mean that the significance and magnitude of this event is lost on people throughout the world. I was so excited that I wanted to do something to commemorate it and... More

Where the Obamas Eat Pizza

From the New York Times: A good place to experience Hyde Park’s cross-cultural vibe is 57th Street. There are tweedy academics rummaging through the dusty shelves at 57th Street Books (No. 1301; 773-684-1300; semcoop.booksense.com), and dapper African-American families sharing deep-dish pizzas at Medici on 57th (No. 1327; 773-667-7394; www.medici57.com). Indeed, Malia and Sasha Obama have held pizza parties at this popular Italian restaurant; just refer to the menu, where new “Obama Eats Here” T-shirts are on sale for $18.... More

Your Pizza, Your Pol

Yesterday, the New York Times ran a story about "microtargeting," the practice of using purchase data to predict who you might vote for. The paper built profiles of Clinton, McCain, and Obama supporters. In the data were the types of pizza you were likely to buy as a back of each candidate. Hillary Clinton: Amy's Whole Wheat frozen pizza [supporter food profile] John McCain: DiGiorno Stuffed Crust pizza [supporter food profile] Barack Obama: Wolfgang Puck All Natural frozen pizza [supporter food profile] I have a weird thing for Tontino's/Jeno's frozen pizzas. Slice's Endorsements for Presidential Nominees

I try to keep things at Slice apolitical. After all, even the slimiest of Republicans and the skeeviest of Democrats enjoys good pizza. But this is an important election, and I figure all you homeslices reading the site could use some guidance as to whom the best pizza candidate might be among the front-runners in each party's nomination race....
