Behind the counter there were all sorts of Philly-Jersey standards like cheesesteak slices and chicken parm slices but it was a Sausage Slice ($2.50) that got me excited. Okay, I'll admit that introducing People's Pizza in Cherry Hill, New Jersey with their Cheesesteak Hoagie Slice was a little over top. So let's give People's another shot, this time with a more approachable and decidedly summery slice. This Arugula and Tomato Slice ($3) is the antithesis of our previous offering—super thin, crisp crust topped with oven roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh baby arugula, mild fresh mozzarella, and a sprinkling of Parmesan. With just a few minutes in the oven the tomatoes have a chance to cook down ever so slightly, releasing some of their sweet juices, the arugula wilts a bit, the mozz heats up just enough to go from chewy sphere to melty blob. It's all about fresh, bright flavors, for that hot summer kind of day when you're not sure if you'd rather have a slice or a caprese salad. More

Covered in a gooey blanket of American cheese and loaded up with thin-sliced beef, lettuce and tomatoes, this Cheesesteak Hoagie Slice ($3) from People's Pizza in Cherry Hill, New Jersey is the kind of slice that could only exist in close proximity to Philly. Plenty of places in Philly serve up a pizza steak (that's a cheesesteak finished off with with mozzarella and pizza sauce) but this crazy slice takes the pizza-cheesesteak hybrid a step further by introducing the hoagie.
